I’m using the Sink 25 (200 grain) on an 8 weight Sage XP. The line casts heavier than other SA lines I have used but is seems to get the fly out there OK. I need to work a little harder. It is definitely the fastest sink I have used. I fish bigger rivers and a typical fly I would use would be a Clouser #2 2XH hook with 7/32″ dumbell eyes.

I recently purchased the Sonar sink 25 350 grain for my 10 weight muskie rod. The first time I tried using it revealed it was badly twisted. Untwisting and stretching the line didn’t fix the problem. I purchased another spool and the line casted fine at first but the second time I used it the running line broke for no apparent reason. Very disappointing.

A great line for a lot of Streamer fishing situations.I have used it on Pyramid Lake ,The Bow River and The Yellowstone River and it performed well. It’s easy to cast and gets down fast and stays there.

I purchased the Sink 25 Cold WF-300-S a few months back from a major online retailer for a trip abroad to fish for taimen which I just returned from. The trip was amazing but the line was barely fishable. Fishing in a drift boat the running line kinked up relentlessly when stripped in and required constant maintenance and untangling between casts. No amount of stretching would help. My floating line by another company designed for cold water application worked flawlessly. I did notice new packaging for the Sink 25 Cold on the SA website so maybe the line has been upgraded to deal with this problem. If the running line has not been improved I would definitely stay away from it. I’d be curious to hear what SA has to say. I don’t usually complain or write comments but this line was exceptionally poor. To be fair I do have other SA lines for other applications which have been great.

Bought this line from the guys at Musky Fool. Great guys. Bought it for a Mongolian Taimen trip.
Trip of a life time. Sadly this line performed very poorly. The running line was a mess couldn’t stop it from tangling all over itself. Constant struggle to shoot the line. Thankfully I had a back up intermediate line from a different manufacturer. Only used the cold 25 when I absolutely had to. I see that SA has changed the packaging hopefully that means they corrected the issues with this line. Several ppl on the trip had this line as the outfitter recommended it. Unanimous vote poor performance.

The Sonar Sink 25 Cold is a heavier line, so you have to adjust for that, but it’s a good line. I mostly use it on the Muskegon, Manistee, and PM rivers to throw streamers for salmon, steelhead and trout, but I’ve used it on the flats of Beaver and Waugoshance islands as well. It attracts a lot of dirt, so make sure you keep your line clean. If you take care of it and pair it with a good fly rod, it’s a real joy to cast. I have this line on 7wt and 9wt rods. I’ve been using them for 3 or 4 years now.

I’ve used the 200 grain sonar sink 25 cold for a couple years now and like others had mentioned- the running line is a constant mess. It has a lot of memory and always twists up and catches in the guides. Last spring on a guided trip we stretched the line out and let it warm up in the sun but that didn’t help.
